Commissioning
Commissioning is the act of a bringing a project from static completion to dynamic completion. It is both a process and a phase within the overall project delivery plan:
- The commissioning process is a planned program of quality management and information transfer activities that extends through all phases of the project’s development and delivery and into the warranty period.
- The commissioning phase is the transition between the implementation and operation phases—the transition between start-up and full operation.
There are many ways of accomplishing this task, but all share the ultimate goal of confirming that the system is functioning in a manner that is consistent with the intent of design and meeting the owner’s needs and requirements.
Hemisphere’s approach to commissioning is to link the traditionally fragmented phases of the design and construction processes by facilitating a team approach and encouraging the team to view the building process holistically—that is to take a big picture, systems oriented perspective on the project, and develop an understanding of the interactions of the systems and facility as a whole and then develop solutions.
