The alliance team of CUH2A Smith Carter Hemisphere has been awarded the architecture and engineering design services contract for a new replacement facility for the US Biological Defense Research Program’s lead medical research laboratory at Fort Detrick, MD.

- University Medical Center - National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
The NEIDL facility is a 191,000 gsf housing state-of-the-art BSL-4 and BSL-3 biocontainment laboratories and associated BSL-2 laboratories, animal, insectary, clinical research, and research support space. It is located on the Boston University Medical Center campus.
- NIAID National Institute of Health Integrated Research Facility (Fort Detrick)
Scheduled for completion in 2008, the new 144,000 gsf NIH/NIAID intramural high containment biodefense facility is the first (A) BSL-2/3/4 building to be constructed at the new National Interagency Biodefense Campus at Fort Detrick.
