USAMRIID, Building 1408, Non-Human Primate Facility (Fort Detrick)
Hemisphere Engineering is acting as the commissioning agent for the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Fort Detrick, Maryland. This facility is designed to assist with research on known, as well as emerging and unknown diseases. This is the ABSL3 animal holding facility for program housed in the interconnected 1412 laboratory building. Hemisphere is responsible for delivering commissioning services based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories Forth Edition guidelines after construction.
The primary focus of the commissioning efforts was focused on the performance of the air distribution system and its ability to maintain directional airflow within acceptable limits. Due to the modular construction of the facility, the laboratory was challenged to maintain pressure difference within very strictly defined limits.
