Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. (AECL)
The laboratory was designed to conduct research on the various effects of radiation exposure. Containment type laboratory space was created to protect both research personnel and the external environment. Other areas included both chemical and biological laboratories.
Sophisticated animal housing areas to hold specialty animal facilities were designed to provide both positive and negative pressurization, filtered ventilation to animal housing racks and animal water housing system. All animal housing areas were designed and constructed to meet the requirements of the Canadian Council on Animal Care Standards.
