Calgary Courts Center
This 92,937 m2 plus project consolidates the Provincial Courts and Court of Queens Bench for the City of Calgary. This signature multi use facility incorporates the following major functional components:
- 2 levels of underground parking
- Prisoner holding and transfer facility
- Staff and public food serveries
- Administrative and support spaces
- 89 Courtrooms and support spaces, including a two level ceremonial courtroom
- Judiciary offices
The building includes two towers of 20 and 24 storeys respectively joined by a 139 m tall open atrium. The courtroom function necessitates a 16 ft floor-to-floor height on many levels.
The project is committed to attain LEED Silver level certification. The Calgary Courts Center includes many innovative and unique features, culminating in an energy consumption projection of 42% below the level of ASHRAE 90.1 and MNEBC.
