Laboratory Center for Disease Control
$20.9M renovation and addition to an existing building in Tunney’s Pasture completed in 1995. Similar design considerations to the Canadian Science Center and design strategies have been used up to and including Level 3 containment (controls and commissioning).
This project consisted of Biosafety Level 2 laboratories and Biosafety Level 3 laboratories housed within new and existing structures. All mechanical and electrical systems were designed, installed and commissioned to the requirements of the MRC Guidelines. The BSL-2 laboratories were designed on a generic laboratory module with modules combined and customized to suit the program user’s requirements while allowing flexibility for future change.
