U of Alberta National Institute for Nanotechnology
The National Institute of Nanotechnology (NINT) is a first generation Nano-research facility, the first such facility in Canada. Conceived to be a Center for research and development as well as an incubator facility for industry partners, it is anticipated that this facility will be a catalyst for new fields of technology and will rival similar research facilities in the US and internationally.
The facility is a six-storey building located on the U of A Campus. Along with research offices, wet laboratories and clean nano-fab space, the facility will feature several ultra sensitive electron microscopes (STM’s, TEM,s). Completed in the summer of 2006 at an approximate cost of $40M.
