This facility will accommodate animal holding/research, biomedical research labs and academic offices for Medicine/Biomedical departments, Pharmacy and Nutrition and other health sciences disciplines as required. This project will also consist of an addition and renovation to the existing Health Sciences building.
The addition will be developed with two floors below grade and seven floors above grade. The sub-basement will have space provision for an electron microscopy suite. Floors two to five will accommodate interdisciplinary Level 2 research labs and centralized support services. Each of these floors will have corridor connections to the existing building.
An interconnecting link across Campus Drive to the College of Arts and Science building will also form part of this project.
Total area of the addition is 16,272 m2 with a construction budget of $52.7M and is scheduled for completion in 2010.
