Grande Prairie Public Library & Art Gallery
The 100,000 square foot Grande Prairie Public Library and Art Gallery is a $26 million dollar project. Using an integrated design approach, the building systems were responsive to the desire for sustainable design with a life‐cycle cost perspective. The project has targeted a LEED Silver rating with the potential of a Gold rating. A superior thermal performing building envelope consisting of triple pane glazing and energy efficient lighting with daylight harvesting were selected to reduce the size of mechanical systems and simplify installations. Mechanical installations such as the high‐efficiency condensing boiler plant, heat reclaim system and dual‐fan dual‐duct variable volume air system incorporating displacement air distribution ensure a high level of thermal comfort and excellent indoor air quality .
