St. Joseph’s Composite High School Modernization
St. Joe’s is ranked as one of Edmonton’s and Alberta’s most innovative learning facilities. In 1989, a steering committee was established to review and study the challenges of a new focus as enrollment had decreased substantially during the 70’s and early 80’s. What eventually transpired were recommendations made to the Catholic School System to change the programming model and physical learning environment of the school.
What resulted was a modernized facility with a new and innovative approach to learning and teaching. With the completion of Phase 1 tower renovations, an individualized self-paced learning opportunity was opened for students in 1998. The new learning center approach provides a barrier free teaching and learning environment in an innovative setting.
Phase II was completed in the fall of 1999 at a value of approximately $19M.
