Agri-Food Discovery Place
Agri-Foods Discovery Place is located on the University of Alberta Farm and is dedicated to applied research activities in the areas of food safety, ag-industrial technologies, functional food, and natural health products, and facilitating commercializable opportunities through initial stages of the value chain. This unique facility consists of two research areas:
The first is the meat Safety Processing (Bio-safety Level 2 area) with hot and cold processing areas, smokehouse, packaging and display areas.
The second research area is Crop Utilization which encompasses wet and dry laboratories, including a dry processing area for pre-pilot primary processing of grain crops, wet processing area and a solvent extraction area.
Completed in 2006 at a construction value of approximately $15M.
